Issue 011 of The Interjection Calendar focuses on scent.

The Interjection Calendar is an annual project by Montez Press, commissioning twelve artists and writers to produce new work across the year. Each year's collection is published as a single volume — this edition edited by Racheal Crowther, with contributions from twelve international artists and writers, including Ariana Reines, Ella Fleck, Eileen Myles and more.

"Scent cannot be mediated through digital platforms or photographic documentation," says Crowther. "It relies on physical presence to inhale air and to internally process ingested molecules. Odour perception begins only after molecules have entered the body and altered it.

Scent, so often treated as peripheral, emerged as fundamental to orientation, safety, appetite, pleasure, intimacy, and presence."
