Cinema du Look is a magazine about stylish cinema.

Issue Nº2 centres on a shared instinct: that cinema’s visual language is not peripheral, but central to how we understand a film. Attention is turn to material – prints, fabric, paper. Surfaces marked by memory. How a setting, a silhouette or a single frame can hold the emotional shape of a scene.

The 'Pleasure and Power' section, created in collaboration with Jouissance Parfums, explores the relationship between film and feminine power through the concept of jouissance. Mary Wild reflects on spectacle and autonomy in Basic Instinct and Showgirls. Sarah Kathryn Cleaver traces the presence of perfume in cinema through through the digital archive World Wide Aura. Rachel Pronger turns to the symbolic interiors of Nelly Kaplan’s films, where female independence takes form through space and design.
